Missouri City Safety Action Plan

H-GAC, in collaboration with the City of Missouri City, is developing the Missouri City Safety Action Plan (SAP). The SAP will identify projects to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries, in accordance with the Safe System Approach. The Safe System Approach aims to prevent crashes from happening and minimize harm when they do occur. Core elements of the SAP are enumerated below.

1. Leadership Commitment and Goal Setting – Adopt a Vision Zero resolution by a governing body committing to support road safety projects
2. Planning Structure – Establish a Safety Task Force to oversee the development of the SAP
3. Safety Analysis – Analyze existing and historical trends involving fatal and serious injury crashes
4. Engagement and Collaboration – Conduct and incorporate robust public engagement through online and in-person activities
5. Policy and Process Changes – Recommend policy adoption or revisions to prioritize transportation safety
6. Strategy and Project Selections – Select and prioritize strategies and countermeasures with deployment time ranges
7. Progress and Transparency – Establish a method to measure progress over time with annual public reporting
