The H-GAC Regional Bus Transit Study is exploring opportunities to create interlocal bus connections across the region. WHAT IS REGIONAL BUS SERVICE?Regional bus service could help connect communities to jobs, schools, healthcare, shopping, and other major destinations across the H-GAC region. This study explores what regional bus routes could look like in our region, with input from residents, stakeholders, and local partners across the region.

The Regional Bus Study covers all thirteen counties of the H-GAC service area.

We have identified some conceptual route corridors for further evaluation. This is not a final map, and details regarding these routes - who operates them, how often they run, where they will stop, how much the fare will be, and the like - have yet to be determined.

  • H-GAC Regional Bus Transit Study - Fall 2026 Survey

    Help Shape the Future of Regional Bus Service in the 13-County H-GAC Region!

    The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) Regional Bus Transit Study is exploring opportunities to improve access to regional bus services across the thirteen county H-GAC region. 

    The Core MPO Region includes Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller counties.

    The Extended Region includes Austin, Colorado, Matagorda, Walker, and Wharton counties.

    Using public surveys, demographic data, existing transit ridership, and regional models, H-GAC has developed eleven candidate regional bus routes for evaluation by the public. 

    By sharing your feedback, you will help us understand how well our draft regional bus routes could serve the region. 

    By sharing your experiences, you will help us understand: 

    • where people travel
    • what destinations are important
    • how regional bus services can be best structured to be useful to everyone.

    This survey should take about 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
