About This Study

What

H-GAC is partnering with local agencies across the Houston–Galveston region to develop 12 Safety Action Plans (SAPs) — comprehensive road safety plans that identify projects, programs, and policies to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Together, these plans create a coordinated regional approach to transportation safety while addressing the unique needs and priorities of individual communities.

Why

The Houston-Galveston region accounts for nearly 20% of traffic deaths in Texas. Every day, an average of two people are killed and ten people are seriously injured in traffic crashes across the region. Through the Safety Action Plan project, regional and local partners are working together to develop coordinated, community-informed strategies to improve transportation safety throughout the region.
