Study Area

The City of Needville is located within Fort Bend County and anticipates regional growth pressures specifically from the widening of the SH-36A corridor that will support traffic from Port Freeport up to I-10. The City of Needville is at a junction between providing strong economic opportunities while working to keep the uniqueness of Needville that current residents have created and preserved throughout the years.

Study Objective

The City’s 2022 Comprehensive Plan established a strong foundation for managing growth while maintaining small-town charm. Building on that momentum, the Needville Mobility Plan represents the next step, turning broad visions into an actionable roadmap for safe, connected, and context-sensitive transportation investments. H-GAC and the City of Needville will work together to define community-driven mobility goals and translate them into an implementable plan that includes:

• A long-range Mobility Plan that supports and preserves small-town culture while advancing safe, connected, and complete multimodal networks.

• A Major Thoroughfare Plan within the Mobility Plan, with clear complete streets cross sections, ready for Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council adoption.

• Strategic mobility projects for prioritized implementation that address City cohesiveness and key safety and access needs, particularly along and across the SH 36 corridor, to sustain Needville’s accessibility and livability as growth occurs.
