<section id="ember77"><div id="ember79"><div id="ember81"><div id="ember82"><h3>Houston-Galveston Area Council, in partnership with Harris County Precinct 2, is developing the Bay Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Plan. This project provides an opportunity for residents of the Bay Area to help shape the future of our community&rsquo;s bicycle and pedestrian transportation network. </h3></div></div></div></section><section id="ember84"><div id="ember86"><div id="ember88"><div id="ember89">The Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Plan will serve as the roadmap to guide short- and long-term priorities for non-motorized mobility. As part of the planning process, an assessment of existing conditions and future needs will be conducted to better connect users to key destinations and create a safe pedestrian and bicycle network to support active transportation. This project is part of Commissioner Adrian Garcia&#39;s initiative, Revive2Thrive. Bay Area Bike and Pedestrian Safety Plan

H-GAC has established a partnership with the City of Pearland to conduct a multi-faceted Transportation Study. The Pearland FM 518 Corridor Study will include two parts including studying the impact the proposed one-way pair between McLean Road and Barry Rose Road and analyzing FM 518 from Barry Rose to Edgewood Drive (Friendswood). The study will determine existing and future transportation needs by integrating land use and growth scenarios. The study will guide development of short, and long-range transportation investments in the City and encourage responsible development choices by increasing safety, mitigating congestion, and improving air quality, while maintaining the aesthetics of the area and improving the quality of life in the region  

FM 518 Corridor Study

The Pearland Mobility Study is a holistic analysis of the City&rsquo;s transportation network. The Study will investigate safety, connectivity, network efficiency, and integration of multimodal facilities. It will incorporate public engagement to better understand where existing congestion and safety issues are and where improvements should be prioritized. It will determine existing and future needs based on existing conditions analysis, the recent update to the Future Land Use Plan and potential buildout scenarios. Add your thoughts and ideas to the community forum discussion questions and talk with your neighbors.Project BackgroundThe Houston-Galveston Area Council has partnered with the City of Houston&rsquo;s Old Sixth Ward Redevelopment Authority (or Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone 13) to develop a &ldquo;Phase II Mobility Plan&rdquo;. In 2021, the Old Sixth Ward Redevelopment Authority completed the TIRZ 13 Mobility Study, a Phase I mobility effort that set the stage for Phase II. The Phase II effort expands upon the original TIRZ 13 boundaries into the City of Houston&rsquo;s First Ward community and will identify projects that support safe options for people to walk, bike, take transit, and/or drive.<img src="https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-us-california/819fbcb845a0ea1cb09bbaf69720e737e68caa67/original/1711376430/a11acb4b96bb084240bbecafc4e2a3b6_OSW_TIRZ_13_Phase_II_Basemap_%28For_website%29-01-01-01.png?1711376430" style="width: 508px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib">The Old Sixth Ward and First Ward areas are experiencing increased redevelopment and transportation changes, resulting in escalating mobility challenges. This Phase II effort will identify major destinations, planned developments and existing mobility networks and travel patterns in the study area. Recommendations for short-term and long-range transportation projects will be developed, informed by the work completed in Phase I.The Phase II effort kicked off in January 2024 and is expected to wrap up by the end of 2024.
